The strictest anti-smoking law in the United States!
The town of San Rafael, Calif., has passed a ban on smoking which city officials have called the most stringent in the United States.
This ban applies to both owners and renters and covers any multi-family residence with three or more units, including condominiums, co-ops and apartments.
Analysts cited studies which found secondhand smoke seeps through walls, ventilation ducts and even cracks as justification for this ordinance.
Cities with similar but less stringent smoking restrictions include Cambridge, Mass., and other California cities, including Walnut Creek and Tiburon.
If I was a smoker, it must be very difficult to understand and accept such an ordinance. Why can't I smoke in my own home? I am just wondering whether this restriction hurt the right of the smokers to some extent.
Moreover, I am also curious about how could the city officials supervise the smokers when they are at their own home?
